Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I am having trouble with an HP 15-ay130nr that I purchased a little less than three weeks ago. When I turned it on today I was greeted by a screen that read as follows:
"The SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure not data loss, please backup the content immediately and run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics.
Hard Disk 1 (301)"
1. I am not sure how to back up the data while being locked out of the computer (which it seems I am)
2. In the event that my hard drive has failed (already?!), what are my best courses of action at this point? I am quite fond of my data, as well as having a working computer.
Any and all help is appreciated!

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.

Contact HP with results of diagnostics testing to have the hard drive replaced.
