Hello everyone, I have this old laptop that has one of those so-called dual graphics cards. Unfortunately the ATI one just won't work after a few years, I keep getting blue screen when trying to boot. I disabled the ATI display driver, and it worked fine with the INTEL integrated card.

And then, I tried to restore the thing to factory defaults settings using the recovery manager. Once again I'm getting blue screen when trying to boot, which means I can't get the recovery done. And this time I won't be able to boot into the safe mode to disable the display driver.

Any help?

I grasp that you have a failed graphic card which you overcame by disabling that one and using the integrated card, When you tried to do a recovery it failed due to the card, The recovery will not work due to the fact that it tests the hardware before doing the installation and of course it will detect the issue.  I am not sure but  after speaking with a colleague you may be able to install from a Windows disk, but I am not certain. You may be able to download Windows from the web   If that is not possible it would most likely be more cost effective to replace the notebook.

And the message on the blue screen apart from everything is "Attempt to reset the display driver and recovery from timeout failed."
