Hi guys,
I have a solution - at least it worked for me. I have HP Spectre 13, and my HDMI was not worked on Windows 10. Everything was up-to-date, with HP version of Intel driver of course.
Now, I have just uninstalled Intel graphics driver from Applications, then uninstall graphics driver from device manager with option "remove driver files". After reboot, there was only the standard vga driver with question mark - HDMI not worked. But after 1-2 minutes, the Windows updated itself automaticaly the genuine Intel driver (so not the HP version...) - and HDMI now works 🙂
So, HP guys, you do some bad things with Intel driver...

My system specs:
HP DV7
Intel HD graphics
ATI Mobility Radeaon 5470
After many exhaustive hours and tryng many different drivers, it seems that the answer is to make sure both the drivers on the Intel HD and the ATI card are the same.
Then it works by switching in the properties from the desktop. It doesnt work by selecting from the windows key+P.
The driver I have installed for both is dated 09/09/2010, version 8.771.1.0

Try to get both drivers the same - on both ATI and Intel displays. That seemed to be the fix. The problem with messing around with different and older drivers is that when you update your system, you will lose the fix and have to recreate.
I uninstalled both drivers (clean ATI utility) and reinstalled the ATIdriver on both. That way any upgrade should upgrade both drivers.
Then once you have HDMI working again, you can set the monitor to use when you plug in HDMI from personalize...

Same issue here. Found another thread on this on the Microsoft site: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/amdintel-switchable-graphics-bl...
Issue seems to be that Win 10 drivers for the graphics cards are use Dynamic Switchable Graphics, while the HP models we are using (mine in an Envy 14-1150ca) only function effectively using Fixed Switchable Graphics, as they were made.
I would really like to see HP work with Intel and AMD to provide a proper driver update.

After spending a couple weeks struggling with this problem - - - I am so done with HP and AMD/ATI - - - someone posted this on the MS Answers forum - the file mentioned for the 12.10 driver package worked for me and restored my HDMI port to operation... IT WORKED !!!
My Machine: (HP Envy 14 XQ101AV) with the AMD/ATI 5650 Mobility Card.
You want to disable automatic driver updates as well...
http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4.exe
So I have a working switchable driver for first Gen Intel and AMD 5xxx series more recent(2012) Recent is an understatement. Download but don't install yet http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4.exe Before you install make sure to use an uninstaller program such as Guru3d.com DDU 1) Run DDU and boot into safe mode(DDU will reboot automatically) 2) Uninstall all AMD and INTEL drivers(DDU will reboot 3) Now install 12.10 version drivers in compatibility mode for Windows 7 with Administrator Rights. Reboot. Everything works accept can't adjust brightness while using AMD card. HP, AMD, Intel and MSoft some class action deliverance!
Thanks for NOTHING Hewlett Packard !!!
Regards,
Scott

thanks scottb.
any idea if this fix will work with driver posted on laptop's official HP website? i.e. i will use 8.70 (or whatever it is) instead of 12.1 you mention? i guess that is what poster before you suggested worked for him/her.
i wonder if i can still install windows 10! i went back to windows 7 and am still with it.

Thanks Scott,
Your suggested fix worked on my VX778AAR model although doesn't quite fill my widescreen AOC monitor at maximum available resolution. That's quibbling given the HDMI is actually working though!
I noticed DDU sets the drivers to not be updated by Windows Update.
Did you do anything else to stop the drivers being "updated"?
