Hi,

Does it support a second HDD ?  No option for dual storage for the series and I can't find kit for the 17t-u100 series

I was told it does but it looks like the mother board does not have a second HDD connector. It does have vacant drivebay though. Might just have to get a HDD enclosure and use it via USB.

Thanks for your reply.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I purchased a 17t U100 and before I bought it was told by chat and phone call that a 2nd drive was available. I had my 2nd drive and bracket ready and experienced the same thing you did. No connector soldered on in the case.

I did not. Product was misrepresented.

If you are deadset on getting a 2nd HD in there you can get a replacment cd tray that converts the cdrom into hd bay. They are fairly cheep and it gets rid of the fairly worthless cdrom .

here is a link to one they sell at fry's. Just make sure you get the right size for the cdrom you are replacing. Take the bezel off of the cdrom and put it caddy for the finished look.

The second harddrive slot on the motherboard is for a M2 SATA 3  harddrive if you dont have already so no need for a caddy or removing ROM drive. This is as per HP service manual for Envy 17t-u100 which you can google.
