Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 1tb Seagate external hard drive which my system is not recognizing. I did have it plugged in the first day and recognized it and repaired/fixed it.  i can jiggle it and it might come up but not for very long. then other days longer. when I plug it in. I have not Now my laptop is not recognizing it even when I jiggle it.   Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to isolate the problem further. Are you jiggling the external drive's cable at your laptop USB port? Does other USB cables have any loose feeling? If you have another USB cable with the correct ends, try replacing it.

Sounds like it is damages physically or logically.

 

(a) Can you use other USB ports with a different USB cable (physically damage)

(b) Can you use a different machine to reformat it ? (logically damage).

 

How old is it ?
