Hello,
I purchased a Z820 workstation 4 years ago. I've switched my 850W PSU with the 1125W PSU. I get an error massage when turning on my computer. It's a "525-Front Chassis fan (2) not detected" massage.
and I have an option to press ESC for startup menu or F1 to Boot. After booting windows loads up and it seems that everything works fine. I've just updated my bios provided by HP and I still get the error massage when rebooting. I'm guessing that my machine is missing a fan that is provided with the Z820 machines that use the 1125W PSU.
My questions are :
- Is that fan necessary? If so where can I buy it and what is the model? If its not necessary how can I disable the error massage on reboot?
- Is there a way of knowing which fans in my machine are working properly and how many I have without opening the case?
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
With the 1125 W power supply the system should have two front chassis fans and probably you only have one. You can see this in the picture from service manual on page 32:
Here you can see also all the other fans in your system. It would be a good idea to purchase this fan, especially if you have problems with overheating.
To turn off the error at bootup there should be an option in BIOS where you can disable the need to press F1 when error is detected and so the bootup will continue even after detecting the error of the fan.
Hope it helps,

Really appreciate your response. I have another question related to the subject if you don't mind. The reason I switched my psu to 1125 W is because I purchased two GTX 1080 ti cards that I plan to install in my machine. The problem is the 1080ti cards have 6 and 8 pins power connectors and the z820 have 6 pin power cables. I did some research and people are suggesting getting getting the 6 to 6 and 8 pin adapters. My question is:
Is it safe to use the system 6pin power cord with the adapter to 6 and 8 pins for two gtx 1080ti?
Thank you for your help
