HP Envy 17t Touch T8B50AV_1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking to upgrade the DVD player to a blu ray player or maybe even a blu ray burner.

Have seen other Service manuals for other laptops on here that include this information but not one for the  HP Envy 17t  T8B50AV_1

Any help would be appriciated.

Thank you both for such quick responses!

I really appriciate the "generic" option as it seems to be about half the price.

Sorry for the  confusion on the model / product numbers.....

@2006Jackpot

To better help you we would need the exact model number or product number of your laptop/desktop???

No Blu-Ray reader or burner is offered on that model series. Here is the manual:

Manual

See p. 17.

See also, p. 34. Removing the optical drive does require removal of the back cover. You could buy a generic Blu-Ray reader or burner and swap it into the brackets and swap over the bezel.

Since this is such a new model information is a little scanty, but it appears to be a 9.5 mm thick drive.

That is a different product than in the original title.

If that is right yours does have a Blu-Ray option.

Manual:

See p. 18 and 29. Much easier replacement process, too.

You can also use your caddy and swap in a generic drive as above.
