The screen of my HP Envy x2 was accidentally damaged and as a result, the touchscreen is now faulty. Everything else seems to be in order. I am looking for advice on where best to get the screen replaced or indeed, where to get the part so as to fix it myself if not too difficult.
THanks in advance

I gave you a link to the glass and digitizer. Before buying it I would find a local cell phone repair shop. Go in and ask hypothetically if you brought in the laptop and the part could they install it? Get a quote for labor only and labor and part. Don't tell them how much you have to pay for the part. I would check with a couple of them and let them know you are taking bids. They usually just get a few quid for a cell phone repair and can charge you more than they usually get. I would explain it that way. Ask for references, too. Should be a win-win if all goes well.

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
Screen breakage is generally NOT covered by the factory warranty, so you're looking at having to pay for this regardless of where you take it.
I would also recommend AGAINST trying to do that yourself, as it is a lot of work and it's easy to damage or break the fragile cable assemblies.
Your best bet is to contact an HP Service Center to see if they can provide you a repair estimate.
Here is information on the Service Centers: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004
Good Luck

When you get the HP estimate if you are not happy with it post back. As suggested, this is a very difficult job and not lightly undertaken but your best bet might be to get the screen yourself (actually might be just the glass and digitizer kit) and take it to a cell phone repair place. Replacing a touchscreen takes tech skills the average old school laptop repair guy might not have.

Hello and big thanks for your helpful and quick response.
I have tried the link that you kindly sent me but after numerous attempts have given up as there seems to be no option for getting the case progressed to HP Support. I would value a telephone number to enable me to get through to a human being and 'talk' to them...
Your advice against trying to repair it myself is very useful.
Thanks

I am based in London, UK.
It's ashame it is becoming harder to get help on the other end of the phone.
I have tried processing this request for repair on-line in vain. Probably something I am doing wrong...
I wonder if this is because the laptop is now out of waranty.
Regards

HP does not sell the glass and digitizer separately. You can find it on eBay:
Before we do this can you tell if the crack is only in the surface glass or is the underlying screen panel also broken?
