zero science ....

zero skills

get the thing fixed by those that do.

or replace the battery 3 ,4,5 more times

we told you can can be 3 things, caused, not 1. (a fact hard as nails)

but refused to listen.

sad

NO warranty answers by me.

Hi Huffer,

I'm willing to accept any replacement that does not cause the house to burn down.

If you know of a reliable replacement, I'd be delighted to purchase.  I can't understand why hp don't sell the batteries, I might as well have a desktop as I can't use the laptop anywhere without a power socket!

I hesitate to recommend any of these but here is another link to a couple compatible battery sellers in UK:

You could buy a couple of these cheap used ones and be pretty sure to get a good one:

Hi Huffer,

Thanks for the links.  As mentioned previously, I bought two duds from ebay already.

The big fear I have is buying a knock-off that burns down our house and kills my wife and children.  They have CE marking but as you may know CE marking can be self certified.

There is a big difference for me  in terms of a CE mark from a reputable company like HP and CE mark from an unknown company.

In addition, my hp battery is rated 3030mAh whereas http://www.hplaptopbattery.co.uk/hp-800050-001-battery-107772.htm is 2200mAh.

I can't tell you have disapppointed I am.  When I bought the laptop it was one of the earliest with a skylake processor and now I find out that I cannot buy a replacement battery from HP.  Not only that I have received no answer to my emails.

For the first time in my life, I have considered buying an apple.  Come on HP you can do a lot better!

I will accept the answer but it is not the answer for which I had hoped.

Thanks again Huffer,

Seán

The above is pay by paypal only presumably to remove the liability that would arise if a credit card was used.... sadness.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  The reason I suspect it is the battery is that my old battery still charges and holds about 2 minutes charge whereas the new batteries do not charge at all.

My first line of attack would be to get a replacement battery.  I got two genuine HP batteries on ebay and both failed.  I did cut one open but packaging is the ruined etc.

You seem to know lots about batteries and good for you, all I want is a replacement battery not a science experiment.

FWIW, I've actually worked on charging circuits, comparators, etc at a circuit level.  I'm not looking to do that now, I just want  a replacement battery.
