Am downgrading to XP from Win 7. Did this to a friends DV7 few years back and still running fine.
My problem is that win 7 runs fine on this DV7t Pavilion Entertainment PC but when I run my XP Pro SP2 installation disk just before it gets to setup is starting Windows, I get a blue screen stating that a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer. Tells me to check for viruses, remove newly installed hard drives and run chkdsk /f.
Under start up menu I ran system diagnostics and did the start-up test, the run-in test and the hard disk test which all passed. restarted win 7 and ran chkdsk /f and all files tested perfect.
I downloaded the sata drivers and have them on a stick. Running the XP disk I press F6 and when prompted I select the type of sata and when the installation gets close to the end I still get this blue sreen.
Any suggestions please....

Hi:
You have to use a USB FDD to install the sata drivers for XP.
Or you can slipstream them using the instructions at the link below.
Read the Intel section, and then read the downloadable document for how to slipstream all of the drivers.

Thanks Paul,
I have read and found I have the PM55 which relates to 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controler.
I may have missed this part but where do I download this driver for the PM55?
Many thanks....
Dave....
For models with PM55, HM57, QM57 or QS57 chipset:
You need to slipstream the SATA driver (only 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller) using nLite.
