I bought this laptop brand new yesterday and after around 10 mins of it booting up a strange sound comes from the right hand side of the laptop.
Its like something is stuck in the fan its best described as someone snoring every few seconds its very annoying, Its not very loud but you can hear it if there is no sound in the room your working in
Ive tried tapping it slightly on the back but to no avail
Do I have to take this back to PC world after a day of buying it?
Thanks

Hi @Liam_x7,
Thanks for reaching out. 🙂 Good day. I read your post about noise from the computer like a man snoring. I would be delighted to assist you here. 🙂
Stupendous diagnosis and spectacular analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. It is always a privilege to work with technical specialists like you. 🙂
We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.
- Is the noise closer to where the air vents are connected and where the fan is located?
- Does the computer overheat and freeze by any chance?
- Is it a noise that could be from the hard drive of the computer like a clicking noise?
For now, please update the bios from this link: http://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862158/model/122...
Please follow the on-screen instructions. Please check again if the noise quiets down.
If it does not, then please follow all the prescribed steps from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01007591 and check if the situation is corrected.
If it is not corrected, then please contact HP phone support to get the unit serviced.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Or you could contact the store for a replacement as you suggested.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Hi David thank you for your reply
So I turned off the fan in the bios for around 30 mins, I then turned it back on again and the fan really fired up at launch (Think sticking your foot down on your car acceelrator right to the floor) And the fan has been running smoothly ever since, The noise that was originally the problem has now gone completley, Maybe it was something stuck in the vent? and that quick speed at the launch startup (after turning the fan back on again) has just cleaned it somewhat.
Anyway the problem has been resolved
Many thanks for your assistance
Liam
