It depends.
If the notebook is an Intel platform model then the maximum installed memory is 16GB.
If the notebook is an AMD platform model, then the maximum amount of installed memory is 8GB.
The steps to access the memory module slot(s) are in the following manual on page 56.

For a successful upgrade, only use guaranteed compatible, lifetime warrantied memory modules from a major memory manufacturer. Install the modules in pairs of identical modules, except as specified in the following two sentences. The Intel platform model has one customer accessible memory module slot. The Intel platform models have two customer accessible memory module slots.
