Just bought this for my son to take to college but would like to add a SSD for the operating system but he'll need more than 256gb total storage so I dont want to ditch the 1 TB HD.
Thanks

Hi,
No additional 2.5 inch SATA slot or supported M.2 SSD slot for your model.
You can only upgrade built in hard drive to 2.5 SATA SSD.
Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05085451
Specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-m6-ar000-x360-convertible-pc/10862133/model/11715532/do...
Support for a 256-MB, M2.2280, PCIe 3×4SS, NVMe, TLC SSD (only on computer models equipped with an AMD A9-9410 processor)
Your laptop came with AMD Quad-Core FX-9800P processor. So no guaranteed M.2 SSD support.
