I have two ram slots and both are full with two memory chip (ram). I don't know with what bus speed they came in and trying to discover the ram speed inside the winodws. i had to follow windows taskmanager help and another software called speccy. Eventaully, I got two confusing values here. Let me find out the exact value of it.

Yeah it seems confusing but you have to keep in mind it is dual data rate. The processor "fetches" data twice per cycle. So the motor is spinning at 800 mhz but double that and it makes 1600. Some monitors report it as 1600 for the speed but that is actually not completely right. 800 is the speed. Your laptop is running exactly as expected.

Hi,
Take a look at this article which describes the functioning of DDR3 and it all depends what we consider the "motor" to be.

Hope it helps,

Hi,
The max speed is 1600 Mhz for your system. You can see in service manual
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03582006
If you insert higher speed RAM it will be downgraded to this speed.
Hope it helps,
David
