Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Im having problems with my laptop lately... i know is like 8 yrs old but it suddenly shutdown w/o any warning then turns on again this happens on OS (Win7 Ult 64bits), on boot and sometimes as soon as Compaq Screen ends. By removing one Ram Card 2Gb is the only way to reach the OS but as soon as the laptop receive a high CPU/Ram usage it crashes. Temperature isnt the problem because i already replaced the fan and cleaned heat sink plus thermal paste GPU/CPU. Monitored the CPU temp and it stayed by 43C - 50C very low imo. Tested 4 Ram cards on the two ram slots but if i put 2 cards at same time the system wont load Windows and crashes again and again... conclusion a damaged MoBo T.T maybe im wrong but theres no other explanation. So... i wanna know if i could upgrade my Motherboard or buy a replacement and upgrade CPU???

Hi @Mrk_Elmdor

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether you can upgrade the motherboard and CPU on our computer.

I’d love to help!

Awesome job on diagnosing the issue correctly and performing smart troubleshooting before posting your question on HP forums. Kudos to you on that score.

I would like to inform you that HP doesn’t recommend an upgrade or the downgrade of the hardware components on the computer. However, you can upgrade it at your own risk and HP doesn’t have any article or information about the same.

I suggest you contact HP part store and check whether the motherboard is available for your computer.
