The above tests failed, and the SMART, Memory, and Battery tests passed. I was having trouble with one program so I rean these diagnostics. The failure ID is 9LGDWX-5M984B-MFH15G-60SN03. What does the failure code mean? If I need a new hard drive, how do I know what one to get?

Hi,
The 24 character error code is a failure of the short Disk Self Test and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.
The drive on the link below is an example of one that would be fine for your notebook.
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 70 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery Media to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive - this procedure is described in the HP document Here.

HDD IS FAULTY !!!
Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure - 9LGDWX-5M984B-MFH15G-60SN03
as per the description is hard drive is faulty depending on the noteook details please contact the HP REP from the country of purchase i am sure you will be provided the best solutions from us.

Hi,
