Envy 17-n152sa
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi All.

bought an envy 17. was at win 10.

Do not want win10.

There is a section with Win7 drivers on HP site. Expected,( as you can select for win7, most drivers would be available.) The drivers for usb do not seem to be included, thought they would be in chipset drivers. Do not seem to be. Can only find drivers etc for the camera in win10, Not bothered. Will not be using, if I did need to, plug in usb cam, as long as I can get the usb working.

So where can I find usb drivers for my envy. As there is a win7 driver section? But no usb drivers.

WHY should I have to use Win10. Do not want to. If unable to get drivers, will revert this one to 10, and sell on. NEVER buying HP again, after buying HP for over 20 yrs. My last one is HP, but now about 10yr old and starting to fail, some keys have gone. dvd went a few weeks ago and now usb has packed in. That is reason for new one. BUT I do NOT want win10.

So help finding the usb drivers would be most welcome.

Hi Paul_T

Thanks for that, clicked link it installed all. Woks great now. Only thing not working is camera, but not that bothered about that, not into the social networking etc. But, then again HP support assistant is downloading other things now, so you never know. Sorry for late reply, been away a couple of days.

Thanks

You're very welcome.

If you installed the graphics driver and that is OK, you may also need to install this software to get the webcam to work.

This package contains the CyberLink YouCam Software for the supported notebook models and operating systems. CyberLink YouCam is a webcam application that enables users to capture images and video from a web camera and apply visual effects to captured images and video.

File name: sp71830.exe

Thanks Again Paul-T

will try that. just checked in device man, 1 usb device without drivers, but not sure what it is, I have a what looks like a cam higher up under imaging devices, I assume that to be the cam. still have to check out the hdmi connection. but usb's are working and that was main concern.

Thanks again, Much appreciated.

Anytime.

Post the hardware ID for the USB device needing the driver and I'll see if I can help you find the missing driver.

To find the hardware ID, click on the USB device needing the driver.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the device window.

Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description.

Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Hi:

You need this driver for that device...

This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.

File name: sp71811.exe

So that is what it was for, thanks for that.

Only part that I have been unable to check is the hdmi port. Have never used any hdmi devices, except the tv stick on the back of my TV,

Do not know if it would work with a laptop anyway, so other than that have no way to check it. So all seems to be working with Win 7, I am glad to say.

Sorry but I object to being forced to upgrade to an operating system that I have no control over. So will never go to win 10. hardware manufacturers need to give people the options.

I am glad HP provide drivers, just wish they would make them easier to find, i find some are badly described.

Thanks for all your help. AGAIN.
