HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC

We ran the diagnostic program (F2 upon startup) when the gray screen showed up.  These two product failure codes appeared.  Hard Drive Optimized DST Check was 61-RA03.   Hard Drive Short DST Check and Hard Drive Extensive Test was was 60RS03.

1.  What exactly does each of these codes represent? 

2.  I the data recoverable from this hard drive if no recovery disk was ever made?

Whenever the Hard Disk Short/Long DST test fails that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive has failed and that requires a replacement to resolve the issue

  

HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby

 

Please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)

 

Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files. You can also refer to the below shown link for further support

Interesting my Pavilion 15 just had similar failure. Failed both short test and long test. Sending in for HDD replacement. After only 6 months of ownership, deffinately question quality of Western Digital drive. Funny how the WD tools didn't work to identify or test the HP OEM one. Well, I am hoping for the best, but unfortunately it won't even boot into Windows even in safe mode to at least grab the files off of it. Really never thought after 6 months the hard drive would die already.
