15-ba079dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a factory refurbished HP 15-ba079dx about a month ago at Micro Center.

I am just now really starting to use it for some work at home, and noticed today through benchmarking that the A10 9600P processor is running underclocked and isn't speeding up regardless of what types of programs / load I put it under.

I have tried running prime 95 on it to stress test, encode AVC video with Handbrake, and even play a few games and the clock stays at 798.38 MHz for all cores most of the time.  Although twice today I have seen it jump to 1197 MHz twice after restarts, but even when it did that it would stay locked at that speed until the next restart no matter what I ran load wise.

I'm hoping that there is a way to resolve this problem with the laptop (possibly turing off cool and quiet or something else to get the CPU to start scaling properly).  The processor is supposed to have a base max speed of 2.4 GHz (3.3 turbo core), but I am not seeing anything near that regardless of load.

HP support, please help if you can.  Besides the performance issues with the CPU I really like the laptop, and am hoping its not a hardware issue and that there is a way to resolve / fix.

I wanted to give an update on my issue.  I ended up updating the bios on the laptop as a last ditch effort to solve the problem.

It worked and the processor is scaling to the full 2.4 GHz plus now, and the machine is much more responsive.  For anyone else having this issue with this laptop / processor combination I would recommend this first as a possible fix if you are in the same boat.

Conclusion

2 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. No offending third party drivers have been found. Connsider using WhoCrashed Professional which offers more detailed analysis using symbol resolution. Also configuring your system to produce a full memory dump may help you.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

I have troubleshooted everything I can think of and cannot figure out what the problem is...

I have done CMD Admin and used all 3 DISM check health scan health and restore health as well as sfc /scannow

and done various other tweakings into regedit and changed some of the values for the kernel and ram memory leaks and what not...

all those scans and CMD checks come back clean with no erros...

I still do not know what the problem is...when I play Stargate Beta Conflict.
