I wanted to upgrade the memory from 6G to 16 G on my HP Pavillion DV6t 3200 CTO. What is the max memory that it can handle?
Can you please suggest the memory model and where to get it from?
Thanks

Hi,
From page #2 of its Maintenance and Service Guide:
Two customer-accessible/upgradeable SODIMM slots
DDR3 PC3-10600 1333-MHz memory. Supports dual channel
DDR3/1333-MHz and DDR3/1066-MHz (only computer models equipped with the Intel
Core i7-840QM 1.86 GHz processor, the Intel Core i7-820QM 1.73GHz processor, the Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73 GHz processor, and the Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6 GHz processor run at DDR3/1333-MHz; all other computer models run at DDR3/1066-MHz)
Supports up to 8 GB system memory in the following configurations:
1024-MB total system memory (1024 MB x 1)
2048-MB total system memory (1024 MB x 2, dual-channel)
2048-MB total system memory (2048 MB x 1)
3072-MB total system memory (1024 MB x 1 + 2048 MB x 1)
4096-MB total system memory (2048 MB x 2, dual-channel)
6144-MB total system memory (2048 MB x 1 + 4096 MB x 1)
8192-MB total system memory (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)
You can get max 8GB, currently your machine has 6GB, you can throw out the 2GB module and buy one 4GB module (same as the existing one) to get total 8GB.
The above manual shows more info about RAM,part # and how to add/replace RAM
Regards.
