I normally use my laptop on my lap and only on a table / desk for short periods but my desktop has died so using the laptop all the time.

 

When the lid is open, the bottom of the lid scrapes along the hard surface of my desk.  I thought it might have got distorted but I can't see anything wrong.

 

I nearly always use some stick-on feet to stop laptops sliding on hard surfaces as well as to improve ventilation so I have done that but it does poor design.
