HP EliteBook 820 G4 (Z2V95EA)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I'm looking for a new laptop, and the primary candidate is HP EliteBook 820 G4 (Z2V95EA).  Here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04543486 I found that HP EliteBook 820 G2 supports DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for display chaining. Does the newest version of EliteBook, 820 G4, support the MST feature? Where could I find the approvement for it, if it true? Also I have Dell U2414Hb display, and want to connect second Dell U2414Hb to the first with the MST (Dell U2414Hb support MST).

Thanks!

Hi.

MST Hubs are supported with the DP spec, there is a limit on the amount and resolution of devices that will be supported. I have an elitebook 810 g3, and got a generic 3 port MST hub and i will be able to use two 1920x1200 plus one 1920x1080 display. I wouldn't be able to do more than one 4k display, its more about the specs of the mst hub you will be using and the capacity of the intel chip. intel typically supports up to 3 displays with it's DP outputs.

I am not sure regarding "daisy-chaining" dp devices altough it's more up to your dell monitor to support it than the laptop itself.

Regards,

Simon
