Hello, my gaming laptop has been experiencing some issues recently. Notably a very sudden decrease in performance, even simple tasks such as browsing and watching videos have become very choppy. Playing any of my games is also nigh impossible considering that they now perform so badly (Whereas they worked perfectly before). I have tried all the performance troubleshooting steps, and nothing has worked.
Drivers didn't help, (Intel, Nvidea, Windows, Hp, tried them all) and my antivirus never detected anything malicious inside my system. To be sure, i even did a system restore to a point where nothing was wrong at all. So I am convinced that it is a hardware issue, exactly which part I have no clue. If I had to guess, it would be the graphics processor.
My warrenty has run out for this device, but I would be willing to pay to get this computer up and running like normal again. So what should i do?

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and understand that you have an HP Omen laptop and you're experiencing performance issues with it. Maybe I can help you with this case. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
Before we conclude it to be a hardware issue, I recommend you to perform a few steps to isolate the issue. Lets run a test on the hard drive and memory of the laptop:
-
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
-
Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.
-
The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.
Figure: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu
- In the main menu, click to select "Component Tests."
Figure: Component Tests options
- Hard Drive - There are six hard drive tests, and they can take from 10 minutes to 2 hours or more to complete. To run the hard drive tests, follow the steps in Hard Drive Tests.
- Memory - There are three different memory tests available. If you think there is a problem with the memory, first try the Fast Test (3 minutes or more depending on the amount of system memory). If the Fast Test does not find a problem, run the Quick Test (about 15 minutes).
If any of the above tests fail then you need to contact HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for your laptop. Please fill out a web form on www.hp.com/contacthp to reach phone support. If both the tests pass then you could simply perform a system recovery (reinstall Windows). System recovery will eliminate all software issues due to which your laptop is working slowly. Please note that system recovery deletes all data and your laptop goes back to it's original factory settings. To perform system recovery, please refer to "Recovery when Windows 10 does not start correctly" from this link: http://hp.care/2cf8noz.
Feel free to let me know how it goes. I'm always here to support. Cheers!

Hey...
I recently bought the new hp omen 15 laptop with 7th gen i5 7300hQ 2.5GHz, 8 GB Ram and nvidia 1050 2Gb Graphics with win 10 64 bit...
When i got the laptop...i have to admit it...it was so so slow, the read write speeds were bad, opening up an application would take ages and so did shutting it off and turning it on...i was very much disapointed and i had even thought of fighting with the seller for giving me such a bad laptop...but i thought maybe i could look for a few changes in the settings before i finally decide to really complain and i did find some solution...and it did help me a lot...Now my laptop works as advertised, fast and zippy and i shall share with you how the change appeared in my laptop...
1. Go to power and sleep settings
2. Choose additional power settings option located on the right side
3. Then in the Power option ( eg. power saver, Hp recommended and High performance ), click on change plan settings then a new window will opwn up.
4. then in the resulting window, choose Change Advanced Power Settings, then a small window with many options will appear.
5. For all the power options ( eg. Power saver, Hp recommended and High Performance ), go to Processor Power Management tab.
6. Now, from there you'll see 4 options...
6A.From the first one i.e. Maximum Processor Frequency, change the frequency of the processor (by default it must have been set to 0 ) to your processor's default speed ( mine is 2500MHz )...
6B. Then go to the second one i.e. Minimum processor state...this problem is for those who say the laptops starts getting sluggish ater being plugged...again...Change the plugged in option to 5% which must otherwise be at 100%
And i think that was all i did....my laptop is working fine now and compared to the one i got at first, the change is heaven and hell...and yes from the small window ( Step 5 )..do check if other options are set correctly too...Then I think your omen laptop will work as promised...
Hope this helped...It really did on mine and i thought of sharing it with each one of you who felt the same heartbreak after facing this problem...
