I opened my laptop this morning and the screen popped out and then cracked. I never dropped it or stepped on it. It just all of sudden popped out and when you try to close the laptop the screen just cracks more and more. Any ideas of what to do. My warranty is already over and I bought this in January 2019 . I didn’t expect that the quality and materials used for this was so low. I tried to take care of the laptop the best I can and now it’s cracked. Help!!!

Hi@JulieLin1,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the display broken and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

I've already contacted HP and they demanded that I would have to pay about $300 to repair for a damage I did not create. I am very unhappy and disappointed since I do a lot of school work on this laptop. I can't afford a repair that much and I should at least get a discount because this isn't my fault. The hinges on this laptop is faulty and I've seen many others complaining the same. HP said they had investigated the problem and there was no need for a recall, well I think they should investigate again. We aren't built with money and when something like this occurs it's devastating for us. This is not the solution I was expecting to be provided with.

It has been 4 business days and still no response. What am I suppose to do with a faulty hinged, cracked screen laptop now. Truly disappointed and sad. Can’t afford to purchase a new one and $300 is too much for a fix. I have school starting soon and I need this laptop for my work. Please help.

The way HP has been responding to these issues has really made me sour on HP.  I am having the same issue, and this is my 3rd HP laptop.  Not that my affinity for purchasing their products should have any impact on how they respond to an obviously flawed design, but I am having a hard time even considering purchasing a laptop from them again.  You get the same canned "sure, we would love to help you out!  Pay us $300 dollars to fix it" response.

It's so infuriating!  My first two laptops were great, but this has really made me question their business practices.

So much UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
