Are you still able to log into your notebook?

Did that error code come from the result of a hardware diagnostic that you ran?

The HP Diagnostic Failure ID Decoder returns "Failed"  as the meaning of the error code. That would lead me to replacing the hard disk with a new one or an SSD.

Is your notebook still within its factory warranty period?

Check your warranty status Here.

If it is, a replacement hard disk will be at no charge to you. Send in the notebook and they will replace the hard disk and install the operating system for you.

If I may enquire as to why you say that "HP support has been less than helpful.".

I have never personally had a negative support experience with HP.  I had a recent (three weeks ago) Warranty support case with a problem with my daughter's notebook and its wifi adapter module.  I troubleshot it myself, talked to the support Engineer and gave him the reasoning behind my diagnosis of the wireless connection problem. He agreed with me. I sent it in and it was returned fixed. It had a new wifi adapter module installed and all working as from the factory.

I was happy with the service.

Thanks for both of the replies. The hard drive came up as going to fail and the diagnostic program spit out the code. I thought the code may be more revealing as to what the problem might be.  By HP not being helpful, I mean they could easily check the code and inform me of needing a new hard drive. Th choices I received since the the warranty is expired was post to the forum or call and pay HP to tell me what is wrong. That is less than helpful.
