Hi

From a past few days, whenever I fire up my Notebook PC, a warning shows at the start:

"The SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure not data loss, please backup the content immediately and run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics."

When I start the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics, it says, SMART Hard Disk Test failed.

What exactly is the problem? Is it that my hard disk drive is corrupted or someting? Also, do I need to repair my hard disk drive or completely replace it?

Many a times, my OS stops responding. Is it because of this problem in my hard disk drive or any other cause?

Please help.

Hi,

The problem: HDD is failing. Please backup your data if you could before too late and check your pockets. You need new HDD any time: next hour, tomorrow, next week ...

Regards.

Thank you so much for your advice.

It may be a dumb question, but could you tell me the reason for such sudden failure?

I have been using my Notebook PC for over 3 years now, and everyhting was alright, until now, when suddenly it's showing a warning like this.

I had the same warning, get everything of your HDD before S.M.A.R.T Trips, when it does, you will not be able to use it, I am looking for an SSD for my Laptop  : )

Thanks for the advice.

I've backed everything up. Now I'm just looking for a good HDD that will be good enough in a long run.

Hi,

HDD's have to spin and they can fail anytime. One HDD may fail before the others depending on many factors (that why they have many types such as WD has red, green, black, blue ...)  incuding bad luck. SSD will also fail too.

Regards.
