I was told I can Also upgraded the ram to 8 can you send me a link on how to do this.

There is no way to upgrade the video card. In this case it has Radeon R5 graphics which are built into the processor. It is an AMD A8 processor so is better than many Wal-Mart doorbusters, but is going to be challenged with any kind of serious games. The memory can be upgraded from 4 gigs but it is a fairly involved process and puts the warranty in jeopardy.

At the right price point this would be an excellent laptop as it will do all productivity (Office) type stuff, handle youtube type video and some light gaming but if your son is serious about gaming it is going to fall short. HP makes some gaming laptops that are going to be in the $700-900 range at the entry point.
