I added an OCZ (Toshiba) TR150 960gb drive in the SATA space. Got the correct hardware from HP (Connector and cradle) Bios doesn't seem to recognize it. Isn't recognized by drive manager.  Upgraded bios to F.22. tried everything I could think of without success. Hard reset, looked in bios to see if there was a drive setting (none) tried turning off boot security as suggested in another thread on a similar subject. Laptop has a 256gb nvme drive which is working fine I just want more space. Never had this problem with my desktops!

This is real embarassing... I discovered I had flipped the cable that goes into the ZIF socket. Maybe someone else can  learn from my goof.  Thanks for your helP!

I understand you have trouble accessing your second hard drive, here is how you can fix it: Click here (though the header on the article is different, it should fix your concern).

Also about the other thread you were referring to, is it this : Link

if not, please consider following the post marked as "Accepted as Solution".

Didn't find anything in either article relating to this problem...

Windows (disk management) doesn't see the drive, and the bios doesn't  recognize it as far as I can tell. I've looked everywere I can in the bios. Once it shows up I know what to do with it. 🙂  How do I get it to show up? UEFI diagnostics doesn't see it.

@RABrandt,

These are some things you can Try:

 A different SATA cable, try the drive on another computer to see if its recognized.

Did you try restoring defaults in the BIOS?

Here is a link to the maintenance and service guide for the recommended hard drives for your model : http://hp.care/2bNwVng (Chapter 1 page 2) This has a list of recommended drives, If you cannot test it on another computer, you could try installing it in an external case to see if it's recognized.

If you choose to use a driver there is not recommended by HP, I can't guarantee that it would work.

If you have been using an HP recommended drive and it's not getting detected on either of the internal ports, here's the link that should guide you to the HP phone support number
(For a hardware service & it should be free of charge if your computer is within the HP warranty).

Keep me posted!
