I am searching for the specification to upgrade the RAM to 16GB for my HP Notebook - 15-ay012dx (ENERGY STAR). currently my notebook is running on 4GB which is throttling many programs. Can someone please let me know if i need to go for DDR3 or DDR4, and what speeds are supported for my laptop.

Hi
According to the P/N # you shared this is the specs it pulls up
according to this you have a 4 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) memory so it's DDR3
