Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

Having a next issue: battery works, system works fine without charger, but every boot it says "No battery detected", and when charger is plugged, it shows battery with cross. Funny part is that happened after installing hackintosh. Both Windows and macOS do not see the battery. Built-in diagnostic tool says that battery (updated) is okay but charge state is not available.

Hi @devrata,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a compatibility issue or a driver problem caused by installing Hackintosh. When you install macOS on non-Apple hardware, there can be various compatibility issues, especially with hardware components like the battery.

Here are some steps you could try to troubleshoot the issue.

Reset SMC (System Management Controller):

  • This can often resolve power-related issues on Mac laptops. To reset the SMC on your HP laptop (which is running macOS), you might need to find specific instructions for your model. Typically, it involves shutting down the laptop, unplugging it, and then holding down a combination of keys while pressing the power button.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Ensure that all settings related to power management and battery detection are properly configured in your BIOS/UEFI. Sometimes, certain settings need to be adjusted for Hackintosh installations.

Reinstall Battery Drivers:

  • Since both Windows and macOS are not detecting the battery, it could be a driver issue. Try reinstalling the battery drivers on both operating systems.

Verify Hackintosh Compatibility:

  • Check if there are any known issues or compatibility lists for your specific laptop model when running macOS as a Hackintosh. There might be community forums or websites dedicated to Hackintoshing where you can find information about your specific laptop model.

Update or Patch ACPI Files:

  • ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) files control power management functions. In some cases, you might need to update or patch these files to get proper battery detection on a Hackintosh.

Restore to Original Configuration:

  • If none of the above steps work, you might consider reverting your laptop back to its original configuration (removing the Hackintosh installation). This would likely resolve the battery detection issue, but it means giving up on running macOS on your HP laptop.

Remember to proceed with caution, especially when making changes to system settings or installing/uninstalling software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
