Pavillion 15AB271SA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop is 5 days old. Problem is trying to type anything at speed.  See example - problis tryto type anything at speed.

I end up with a load of random letters as certain keys just refusing to enter when struck. Only seems to work if I strike one key every 2 seconds. Not much good to an amateur writer.  Sometimes have to strike a key 3 or 4 times to get anything from it.

Just as bad in MS Word or online. Very disappointing. Assume I should just bring it back.

Assume I shoujust ck.(previous sentence at normal typing speed).

Any advice?

You can adjust the keyboard speed pretty much in the same way this worked in previous versions of Windows.

Control Panel > icon view > Keyboard > Keyboard Properties >> adjust as needed

Example Reference:

Typing speed is slow on windows 10, how to change keyboard speed?

Other than that, make sure you have installed / updated your relevant HP Drivers for Windows 10.  Sometimes the Drivers in the computer's Driver website support page are newer than your "new" notebook.

System:

HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab271sa (ENERGY STAR)

You might take a look in the computer's Troubleshooting section.   Although there may not be the "exact" document you seek for your issue, it is a good idea to peruse the sections and see what is there.  The same goes for the Howto section -- there is a bunch of information available.

Your computer's User Guide provides general information and a bit of "howto" for some items.
