Hi there,
I hope someone can advise me.
My laptop recently has severe performance issues as soon as I plug it into it's mains charger. Everything will run slowly, even just opening a website takes an age, navigating windows menus is slow, basically every action you perform runs at a 10th of the speed of normal.
I used HP online support and the chap took remote control of my PC, disabled loads of services and bootup processes and then rebooted my PC, rendering it even more useless! I then couldn't even reconnect to HP support to revert the changes he made. And he made no attempt to call me after f**king up my laptop.
Anyway - I've heard that a faulty charger can cause the issue I'm having but when I suggested this he told me that it's a myth.
Can anyone advise what the problem could be. My power plan settings look fine and nothing's been changed in the OS, so I cannot fathom why this only occurs when I charge the wretched machine, and can only assume a faulty charger or laptop hardware problem
Thanks in advance.

Hey there!
This is MCC, from the other post you commented on. I can't find the reply button on that topic so I found you here instead.
Seems like you have the same problem that I had. I tried tons of stuff to solve the problem but nothing did the trick.
But then I decided to buy a new AC adapter and check if that was the problem.
AND IT SOLVED EVERYTHING.
I don't pretend to know that your computer has the same problem as mine, but for me, a brand new 80$ genuine AC adaptor from laptopparts.ca did the trick. Laptop still runs like a charm on that adaptor. I made sure to buy a better one than the one that was provided with my laptop. I used to have a 90W now I have a 135W, compatible with my laptop model.
I hope it helps you a little bit to know that it worked for me.
Best wishes,
MCC

Hi MCC!
Thanks so much for replying and sharing your experience. I will do the same - or at least I'll try to get HP to send me a new one first as I'm meant to be under warranty still.
Glad you got your problem fixed, I'll report back if it works for me - I think there's a very good chance it will.
All the best and thanks again!
Mat.

Hi back!
My pleasure, I like when people share their experience and their solution so I try to do the same.
Good thing you're still on the warranty. If HP doesn't send you a new adaptor, make sure you don't buy a low quality one, even if it says it is compatible with your computer.
As I run on HP (and HP only!) I always go with the HP adaptors, even when I buy on other websites. But that's just me 😉
I'll wait to hear from you to know if it solve your problem!

HP sent me a new charger as promised. Unfortunately in my case this has not fixed my problem. I'll investigate online further before contacting HP again, but I think they're gonna have to repair my laptop. I've exhausted all other issues now. Will report back when I get a fix.

I am sorry to read that a new charger has not resolved your problem.
Since your laptop only has problems when the adaptor is plugged in, I still believe it has something to do with that aspect.
Maybe the connector (in the laptop) for the adaptor is malfunctionning.
Keep me posted, I am interested to know what is the problem when HP will figure it out.
