From your description, it definitely is a "hardware" problem, not a "software" problem with Windows.

It's nothing that you can fix yourself, because I get the impression that you're not a computer technician, who would not have needed to post into this forum.

I'll repeat: contact HP, and pay them to fix/replace the screen.

Hey there! @pablo2017, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your laptop is getting overheated as soon as you turn on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

Are you running multiple applications or game at a time on your PC?

As you mentioned even after updating BIOS the issue still persists.

The following list describes some causes of excessive heat:

•Dust inside the laptop.

•A new component, such as a hard drive, is added. The extra component causes the power supply to work harder and generate more heat. Extra heat also radiates off the new component and adds to the temperature inside the case.

•Over time, some cooling fans might slow down and wear out, as the laptop is getting hot, depending on the usage of the laptop.

•High ambient room temperature.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot overheating issues.

If you are running multiple applications on your PC, please end the task in task manager and check if it helps.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a wonderful weekend ahead! 🙂

>>> the left side of the screen has become TOO hot to touch as soon as you turn the laptop on.

It is the screen, not the "body" of the laptop.  Correct?

It happens immediately.  Correct?

Is the warranty still active?  This is an issue that requires some "hardware" repair, not any "software" repair.

Please contact HP, even if the warranty has expired -- as you indicate, I agree that it is too dangerous to continue using the computer.

> Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

Not applicable, given the "instant heat" symptom.

>  Dust inside the laptop.

Not applicable.

> A new component, such as a hard drive, is added.

Not applicable.

Hi,

Laptop was running as normal

No extra workload or applications

No longer in warranty - that ran out in Dec 2016

It's the full left side of the screen that's hot - someone suggested inverter?

Have got everything up to date and all seems the same unfortunately

It's hot as soon as laptop on

Regards

Paul
