I just purchased a rebrubished Elitebook 8570p and I'm trying to find out about the accessory battery which attaches to the bottom of the laptop
I'm not talking about the regular battery which sldes in at the back but the much larger battery which attaches on the bottom via a special socket.
Does anyone have any information on these batteries?
I've exhausted my ideas for Google search keywords.
Did the battery ever exist?

Here is an aftermarket one for about $100:
Although there is no part number for this in the Manual the little post in the middle is consistent with the accessory battery connector shown in the manual. Looks like it may also still be for sale through HP Australia:

These are sometimes called a battery "slice" and they add quite a bit of heft to the laptop but they are equvalent to adding 2+ additional standard batteries so have tremendous runtime.

Thanks for the quick reply
I wonder if they would ship one to the USA and what the shipping charges would be?? I'll see about sending them an email or such.
$239 Autralian works out to $181 USA - a bit steep but there are places that sell regular batteries for that sort of price. I should say, try to sell, because I'd never spend the rediculous amount some places want to parts. Do they every actually sell stuff at those prices??
When I was researching the laptop, on site said the accessory battery could go as long as 36 hours - quite a claim but as you said, it would be like adding two regular batteries.
Do you know if that battery can be used together with the regular, that slides in a the back?
Thanks again.
Is there a way to turn on spell check in this blody text input area? It appears the forum software was written by someone who decided to make his or her own input area rather than use a normal <textarea>. With a TA, you can spellcheck, with this???

I did some more searching starting with that BB09 code shown on the page you refered me to.
I found the part number QK64OUT and found some USA sites selling them - If I decide to buy, I'll have to check on availablity - could be an item the don't stock very often.
Here's myu last Google search result
Thanks again.

Yes they can actually work together with a regular battery. The BIOS knows to drain one battery before tapping the other and when you go into power management you will see 2 battery level icons. This slice battery was used in several HP models so I am not surprised there are still some around in the US. Let us know if there is anything else we can do.
