Hello,

I want to upgrade RAM in my laptop to 2*8GB. Does motherboard support this amount of memory?

If understand correctly, the model of my motherboard is HP 183E (U3E1) but I failed to find its specification in web.

Thanks in advance.

Here are the official specs:

The motherboard basically is the laptop model. Laptops are designed from the ground up by the manufacturer so there is no set of motherboard specifications separate from the laptop itself.

The specs say 8 gigs maximum, but it is a 3rd generation Intel Core processor. However, the Service Manual, which is usually more reliable than the specifications, also says 8 gigs maximum and does not specify a compatible 8 gig module.

 Service Manual

Even Crucial says 8 gigs maximum and they conduct ongoing tests because if they can sell you bigger modules they want to be able to do that.

So, bottom line, I think it might take 2 x 8 gig modules but it would be a big gamble and I would assume it can only take 2 x 4 gigs.
