I have the HP Envy 15 ae124TX, and whenever the screen turns off and I turn it on, it shows nothing. The display gets turned on, but it shows nothing, all black. Though this doesn't happen when it boots up (I closed the lid once and when I opened it, the display was back). What do you guys suggest I can do?

Hi @Rockman_X,
Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! Good day! I reviewed the post about the computer screen remaining black when the lid is closed. .t will be a delight to assist you here.
Superb effort, brilliant troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Did this begin after a windows or software update?
- Have you tried to update the drivers and bios?
- Does it happen both when the charger is plugged in and also on battery standby?
- Please let me know the operating system installed?
It looks like the computer is going to sleep or hibernation mode and not waking up when the lid is closed.
Please perform a hard reset from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768
Then perform these steps to see if it gets resolved:
- Go to Control Panel, then click Power Options.
- From the Select a power plan page, click Choose what the power buttons do from the list on the left panel.
- On the Define power buttons and turn on password protection page, you then have the option of choosing what happens when you:
- press the power button
- press the sleep button
- When I close the lid- select the sleep option (not shutdown or hibernate)
- Now check again.
If it does not work then please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03383935 and follow the option “The computer does not wake up from sleep or hibernate mode”.Then check if the issue is resolved. Please disable Hybrid sleep as well.
Please change the power plan and set it to high performance from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04752217
If it does not get fixed, please update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link http://hp.com/drivers and follow the on-screen instructions. Then check again.
Hope this helps. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
