Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion dv5000 laptop. Unfortunately, the hinges through which the display assembly is connected to the switch cover (spare part #407825-001) gave away and I have not been able to find a replacement switch cover and screen assembly here in India (where I am based). Given that the other hardware components are in perfect condition otherwise, I have been thinking of a full body replacement where I should be able to use all the same components viz motherboard etc. in a new housing. However, housing for dv5000 is also not available, therefore, I am looking for help on a good substitute for the same which should be able to accommodate all the dv5000 components and hopefully should still be available in the market. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated - I am keen to get this machine up and running..:)
Thanks,
Nishant

The internal electronics and the chassis plastic parts are designed as an integrated unit so if you want to rebuild it you are going to have to get another dv5000. I suggest you buy a "parts" unit from eBay that does not work and combine "Frankenstein" together a single working unit.
There were several on US eBay...most vendors, however, do not want to ship overseas. This one says he ships to many overseas countries.
Have it shipped without the battery to minimize customs problems.
Post back if you have any other questions.
