Envy 15T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I cracked my screen and need to get a replacement screen.

It's an

HP ENVY - 15t Laptop

Product number: M9U50AV

The screen is listed as

15.6-inch diagonal HD WLED-backlit Display (1366x768)

I'm just trying to identify what replacement screen to buy.  I'm really astonished that this information seems so difficult to find.  I also have my machine's serial number if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

This is the answer I received from notebook engineer. He used another Product Number in the Envy 15T series since your and my Product number is not active in Part Surfer- yet.

"Since he has an HD screen then 812702-001 would be the correct option. The others in the list are FHD or UHD."

I appreciate the quick answer and attempt to assist me, but the parts surfer did not work.

I just tried it and got nothing with both the serial number and the part number and nothing.

With the serial number it gave me four choices:

Please Select a Product number:

ER583PA#AB2 - Cnc4200FFUP740X260NGf51Ha PRC M9U50AV - BU W/K PHTM ENVY 15t-ae100 CTO1 PX849AA - HP L1706 LCD Monitor ALL PX849AA#ABB - HP L1706 LCD Monitor EURO

When I selected the correct second choice it told me to enter a serial number!!!  This is extremely disappointing.  I'm dealing with a laptop that was bought less than one year ago and I can't find a detailed parts list based on a serial number.

Quick Search:      RoHS validation service unavailable-RoHS compliance status may not be current.

No additional information for CND5490MDW  found in PartSurfer. Please read the hints below, and try again. __designer:mapid="1f3" Hints for using PartSurfer:

The most reliable and fastest way to identify your product is to enter the serial number or product number from the service tag (such as CNU123456789or RU477EA ) in the search box above, but a more general description of the product (such as LaserJet 8100 or Pavilion 6532) is also acceptable. Also, if you know the HP part number you are looking for (such as 8120-6260 or CB394-40014M), you may enter that directly.

Searching for an HP part by entering a general description (such as Power Cord, Fusing Assembly, Motherboard, or Cartridge) will not be successful. After first identifying your HP product (as described above), you will be given several options for finding the part that you need.

You may also click here to return to the main PartSurfer screen and select from the list of HP product families. Additional information can be found in theHP PartSurfer User Guide .

That is really strange. I also have an Envy 15T (loaner from HP) that is almost identical to your laptop- Product number is M9U51AV. I entered my Product number and got no results for parts either. Only that the model is HP W/K PHTM ENVY 15t-ae100 CTO2 BNBPC. And a message at the bottom- Where Used Information for this Part Number is not available at present.

I have the Envy 15T for testing and helping owners here at the forum. Guess this is another example of it being useful. I will report this and see if I can get some answers. Be patient as it is a weekend and most HP employees won't be back online till Monday.

Cheryl,

When I couldn't find the answer directly from HP I did a number of searches in google from my order details that took me to places like ebay and amazon and even HP's own links that seem to provide more information to it's service partners than to its customers.  That's where I discovered that other product numbers give the correct detail in the parts finder.

Ultimately the best link was to the ENVY Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide on HP's own site together.

Looking at each of the raw display panels for the non-touch model and comparing it with my order,

812702-001 Yes 1366x768 HD backlit
812703-001 No 1920x1080
812704-001 No QHD 3200x1800
830003-001 No 1929 UHD
830511-001 No 3840

I think I eliminated every other answer except for 812702-001, given the detail in my original order, and I expect that's the correct answer.  But, I'm not a technician and don't repair these machines, so I don't want to order anything from HP or a third party site without knowing this.

I appreciate you following up on this and look forward to what I hope is the official and correct answer.  Ultimately, I hope that I will be able to put cracked screen and my serial number in HP's site and maybe chat online to provide additional details and be able to get to that answer without putting me and you through a scavenger hunt.

I think you are correct on the screen replacement. This is a CTO model and any of the screens shown in Maintenance Guide were an option if you chose to customize when ordering. That is why my Envy 15T is one digit diffent from your envy. It is the same machine- but I have the anti-glare screen.

Now the mystery is why no replacement parts show up at HP Parts when using the Product number of laptop. It does find the screen if you put in the part number of the screen and you can add it to cart and check out.

I received a reply and it should be corrected on the HP parts page for this CTO model. Not sure how long it will take.

However,I received conflicting information on the screen replacement. I think that is due to the info being checked on a non-CTO version of the Envy 15T because it is a part number not listed in the Maintenance and Service Guide for our models. I have asked for further review on that and hopefully will receive an answer tomorrow.

Sorry this is taking a while but I work during times HP contact is answering my questions and I don't get them until later.

Cheryl,

I appreciate your diligence in getting to the answer.  While I'm disappointed that the information is still not readily available from Parts Surfer, that's  not your fault.

You ended up getting me the right answer, so the Forum as a safety net worked for me, thanks to your efforts.

Now I know what part to order.
