Hi, I would like to upgrade my hp Laptop to Windows 11. In order to do so the PC integrity check tells me that I should ensure the secure start. When I go into BIOS the respective line for secure started is greyed - not changeable.

How can I actually change into secure start mode in BIOS - so that it is not greyed.

Looking forward to your support.

Hi:

If Windows is installed in UEFI mode, see if this works:

Step 1. Go into the BIOS and Load HP Factory Default Keys and see if Secure Boot becomes available.

Step 2. If it does not than go into the operating system and disable “Fast Boot” (Steps below).

How to Disable Windows 10 Fast Startup (lifewire.com)

Step 3. go back into your BIOS and try Load HP Factory Default Keys.

Step 4. enable Secure Boot at this point.

If you don't know whether or not Windows is installed in UEFI mode, run the Windows system information app.

Check the BIOS mode line.  It needs to be UEFI in order to enable secure boot.
