You should contact HP technical support directly and let them troubleshoot online. If they diagnose hardware issue, they'll ask to send unit for repair. Better you do extensive system testing from UEFI BIOS beforehand.

Yes, you'll have to backup all your data before sending in for repair. HP wouldn't be responsible for any data loss.

Hi,

Yes it'll be better you claim the warranty.

It's this not happening in battery alone?

You could follow this to reduce overheating:

Do extensive system testing from System Diagnostics UEFI by tapping F2 key as you power on laptop

Greetings @Skrble

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are facing an issue with your computer randomly shutting down. I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Recommend you shut down the computer.

Please disconnect any devices connected to your computer.

If you have any USB or DVD in the computer, please disconnect it.

Perform a power reset on the computer. Click here for assistance.

Disconnect the adapter, remove the battery (if it can be removed)

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain the static in the computer.

Connect the adapter and battery to the computer.

Turn the computer ON and keep tapping F2 or ESC repeatedly on startup.

This should get you to a Startup Menu and from there you can select System Diagnostics.

Please select system diagnostics and run a system test.

If the test fails, please contact our phone support for the service options.

If the test passes. Please exit system diagnostics.

Restart your computer and run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated, especially BIOS and chipset drivers. Click here

Have you made any hardware changes on your computer?

Let me know how it goes.
