Hi,
Your laptop came with two 4gb RAM (8gb total) in two slots.
https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c03507212
Remove each memory module and see which module failed.
Manual: Page 5, 56
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03591281
Replace failed RAM with a new one of exact same configuration, speed and voltage.
Regards
Visruth

Well i took out the ram and booted it up only to forget I had earlier tried a system rollback to before it was infected and it failed. I received an error message reading that the recovery failed and it rebooted to a screen telling me there is no OS on the hard drive

In that case, you can clean install Windows 10 Home 64 bit by creating UEFI bootable Windows 10 installation USB using Microsoft windows media creation tool:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-clean-install-windows-10-a.html
Windows will be automatically activated after installation while connected to internet
