Product: Pavilion G6-2210SA
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have 2 x USB 3 backup drives which only show as USB 2 and yes I'm using the ports on the left side.

 

The Device Manager shows the USB 3 .0 eXtensible Host Controller is working correctly and it's using a MS driver 6.2.9200.16656 dated 28/06/2013.

 

Any help really appreciated, David

I managed to fix it with the software utilities, I think it was installing the USB 3 Replicator software.

 

I also updated the BIOS.

 

The HP Update check failed to work properly telling me that everything was up todate when it patently wasn't.
