HP 15-bs145tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using HP 15-bs145tu laptop with Windows 10 64 bit OS.

RAM - 8GB

Hard Disk - 1TB HDD (not SSD).

Below are my questions:

1) Is my laptop compatible for SSD ?

2) Can both SSD and existing hard disk work in laptop at the same time ? For example SSD for boot, OS, applications etc and HDD for data storage.

3) If yes for question 1 and 2, please suggest a suitable SSD accordingly.

4) I am also looking for RAM upgrade along with SSD addition to my laptop. I know I have an extra slot which can take max 8GB. Should I opt for 2666 or 2400 speed ? Existing is 2400 I think.

5) If I go for 256GB SSD, should I go for 8GB RAM or 4GB RAM would be sufficient to boost performance up ?

@vikrant28 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the ram and SSD.

I have checked the manual.

Your product support dual storage conƭJuratLons (Intel Core processors only)

● 256 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD

● 128 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD

And your product support two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (Intel Core processors)

DDR4-2133 dual channel support (6th and 7th generation Intel Core processors)

DDR4-2400 dual channel support (5th and 8th generation Intel Core processors)

Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations

 ● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)

● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)

● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)

● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)

● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)

Thanks for this advise.

Based on your inputs, I have looked online and found below DDR4 RAM 8GB.

@vikrant28

If your laptop is 8th generation CPU, you can go ahead and purchase the ram.

According to the specification. It has shown as the 8th generation.

Have a nice day!!
