 Hi,

I would like to replace the stock HDD of my HP Envy 14-j007tx with a compatible SSD. So I wpould like to know,

  1. Which SSD will be compatible with the above HP laptop?
  2. Are there any disadvantages to the replacement.
  3. Can I do it on my own? If yes where can I find guides?

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you want to upgrade the HDD and replace it with an SSD,
I had to take some time off and research for you, here are the results:

According to your User guide
Hard drives Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) hard drives (HD) and solid-state drives (SSD), 12.5-mm (.49-in) and 9.5- mm (.37-in) thicknesses

To answer the compatibility questions: Click here

If you are good with hardware replacements, the answer is Yes you can do it on your own (if not, have a local tech replace it for you)

Alternatively, you may also check with this link for the step by step guide: Click here

There aren't any disadvantages as such, considering you'd have more transfer speed and no moving parts inside the SSD ensuring less chances of failed parts, for any other details you can always google for the pros and cons list.
