We ordered a replacement battery intended for an HP Elitebook 840 G5. Received a battery for an Elitebook 850 G5. Are the batteries interchangeable? Will the 850 G5 battery fit & function in the 840 G5 laptop?

The 850 G5 battery:

Battery (3 cell, 56 WHr, 4.85 Ah) 933322-855

Manual

840 G5 battery:

(24) Battery (3 cell, 50 WHr, 4.33 Ah) 933321-855

Manual

They do not look exactly alike in the pictures, but similar. The part number is only one off, but close is not good enough.

I would search for good pictures on eBay or such to see if mounting holes are in the same place and the connector looks the same. You would still be taking a risk using it even if they look the same.

Thank you - appreciate the quick response. I agree - best not to risk it.
