Hi @Dunc1,
I reviewed the post comprehensively. I thank you for your super quick reply. I thank you greatly for your response. First off, You are super skilled and kudos to you for that. 🙂
I understand the post clearly you’ve been super clear. I thank you for providing the correct information regarding the model# of the unit. The notebook indeed has a type C connector USB 2.0 that can be used as a charging and data transfer port.
Please visit this link for the product specifications of the computer: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-10-x2-Notebook-PC-series/12499232/model/13443437/document/c05...
External ports are:
1 micro HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo; 1 USB 3.1; 1 USB 2.0 Type-C™
Now please check the user guide from this link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05227773
- This clearly states on page 6 Chapter 2 that it can act as a charging port also.
- USB Type-C power connector port Connects a USB device with a Type-C connector to an AC adapter to provide power to the computer and allows data transfer.
- NOTE: Adapters (purchased separately) may be required.
I genuinely hope the unit works great and stays healthy for a long time. 🙂

Hi @Dunc1,
Good Day!! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! I understand that you require assistance regarding USB type C port supporting charging, MSWord uninstallation and the support for Micro SD cards. It will be a delighted to assist you. 🙂
Spectacular understanding and commendable description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this:
- Have you tried different capacity Micro SD cards with this computer?
- Did you try to uninstall MS word?
For starters, To answer your first question, the computer does not provide support for Type C charging. It is used only for data transfer. Please check the user guide link for this: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04481813 please visit page 21 for more information. It supports only data transfer and there is a dedicated power port to charge the computer.
- To uninstall Ms word, you need to Uninstall MSOffice from the computer.
- But before that have you tried multiple MS word documents because the document that you are trying to open may be read only. If all documents open as read-only, then you could uninstall MS office from programs and features.
- Steps: right-click on start button>go to programs and features>look for MS office in the list>right click on MSOffice and left-click on uninstall.
- Then follow the on-screen instructions.
- The standard size micro SD cards supported should be 32 GB and 64 GB. Please check this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Windows/What-micro-sd-memory-types-is-HP-Split-x2-compatible-with/td-p...
Hope this helps. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Unlike the system diagrammed on page 5 of the referenced manual and further instruction on page 21 my machine does not have a separate, solely dedicated power cord connector port. This port is identified (in the Setup Instructions brochure) as a "USB type-C power connector port" and it bears a USB port logo (trident) plus a lightning bolt. The connector itself is a Type-C form factor.
If the system is on battery power is this a functional USB port requiring a type-C connector?
Optionally, can this port accept a USB powered hub that would supply power to the computer and the downstream USB ports? What brand(s) of these hubs are compatible with this machine?
There is also a type-B USB connector (narrow rectangle) with "SS" and trident symbol. This port, I expect, is USB 3.0 or 3.1.
For reference fron the shipping box:
HP Pav Detach Notebk - 32 Gb - 10 in
Part # T28400-1331590281
Model # MOD-10-P020CA
I have since determined that the included Microsoft Word is the mobile version. Acc to the Microsoft store it is a document reader only unless an annual subscription is paid. Instead, I will remove it (and similar Excel & PowerPoint modules) and replace them with Office Home & Student 2010.
