Here is the link for how to get the best life out of your notebook battery.

If you always plan on having the notebook connected to A/C power, then it is fine to run it with the battery removed.

 

If you want to keep the battery in and the A/C plugged in most of the time, then remove the notebook from A/C power every two weeks and run it off the battery until you get the 'time to recharge' notification.
