I just purchased a 1T Samsung SSD 850 EVO 2.5" SATA III drive to replace the hdd in my 8470P Elitebook. Is this going to just be a straightforward swap where I remove the old hdd and plug in the new ssd? That was the plan, but I've been way wrong before.
I have 2 backup system images ready if needed. I have turned off automatic defragging in my security software. I am completely new to ssd's and should have asked this before I dropped a bundle on one, but it is what it is. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I've been playing around with swapping HDD's with SSD's on a dozen of laptops, my process:
(a) Clone HDD to SSD using O&O Disk image (you can use other software).
(b) Physical swap,
(c) Turn the machine on.
My successful rate is 100%
Regards.

Thanks for the quick reply, banhien! Just one more quick question: since the new ssd is much larger than the hdd it is replacing, could I possibly just start by doing the physical swap and then dumping the system image on the new ssd? That is the method I've used when upgrading hdd to larger hdd.
