Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

i spilled a substantial amount of tea on my laptop. i turned it upside down and placed it on cloth immediately. later, i took it to an HP support center where they cleaned the fluid that had seeped donw to the battery etc. my laptop works fine in its functions right now, but the keys are quite sticky and are sticking very much. is there a way this can be resolved without having to replace the entire keyboard altogether?

Thank you!

hello! thank you soooo much for that extremely helpful resonse!! i just want to confirm one thing. does the solution of removing keys apply to spectre x360? i can see that something thin might be fitted between my keys and their panel so that they may be removed (if my laptop model allows it), but i want to confirm that my laptop does not have another mechanism. i am doubtful because a) there is only an extremely tiny space between my keys and the panel they fit in, and b) the HP Support people i went to told me that my laptop can only be repaired by replacing the keyboard altogether.

please help, and thank you again!

Hi @Farhan6

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your time and efforts.

HP support people have given you the right suggestion to replace the keyboard. It is difficult to remove the keys and clean on most of the laptop keyboards.

To answer your question, laptop keyboards usually will not have buttons or switch below each key like the traditional keyboards. You can remove the keys and clean the surface as you mentioned that the keys are sticky. HP doesn't recommend this as it may damage the internal parts of your computer. You can try these steps at your own risk.

Hope that answers your question.

Good day! Take care 🙂

Cheers!
