The Broadcom card only supports 2.4g wireless, and that part of my router is dying, but the 5g signal seems much more reliable. I want to replace the card with a new one, but I am concerned the bios will block it.
Is there an updated list of supported cards? Or what is a quick way of determining what will work?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi, Kevin:
Check chapter 3 of the service manual for your notebook for the list of supported wlan cards.
Those are the only ones you can install.
I see a Broadcom Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter listed, and that is a dual band card.
You must also get a card with the HP part number on it or it will not work. In the past, I have gotten used but tested and working wireless cards on eBay by querying by the HP part number, and then buying one of the listed cards that show the part number on the sticker in the listing photo.
I won't buy a card unless I see the same part number on the white sticker in the photo that indicates 'Replace with HP Spare.'

No updated list and you are correct to be worried about a BIOS block. This one is in the manual and will work in 2.4 or 5ghz band:
It is 802.11n, not ac but will connect with an ac router in the 5ghz band. It has to be the exact card with the HP part number.
